Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe celebrates expansion of coffee company (SBG) DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Cow Creek Umpqua tribe is celebrating the expansion of its coffee company.

Takelma Roasting Company is owned by the tribe.

They opened in 2017, and are now sold in stores nationally.

Seven Feathers Casino held a grand opening on Wednesday for a cafe dedicated to the coffee company.

General Manager Shawn McDaniel tells us it’s part of a project to rebrand the entire property.

“It’s also an extension of the cultural piece of the tribe,” said Shawn McDaniel. “All the tables have the tribal names and words so people can learn some of the tribal lingo and become closer with what the tribe does in the local community.”

McDaniel says they’re looking to see how it’s received, and then they’ll think about expanding outside the community.
