Colorado River Indian Tribes Introduce Area’s First
Vehicle Charging Stations
Project reflects commitment to the environment and sustainability
PARKER, AZ As part of a continuing commitment to preserving the environment, creating sustainability and providing valued amenities to guests, the Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) has introduced the area’s first Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations at the BlueWater Resort and Casino. Two Charge Point Dual-Port Electric EV Charging stations, installed through Motive Energy Telecommunication of Corona, CA, are located in the west side parking lot of the resort.
Through installation of the recent EV charging station project, CRIT has the capability to install additional stations in the future. Expansion of EV infrastructure will allow accommodation for additional guests as well as facilitate the drive to add electric vehicles to the Tribal fleet. The EV charging station initiative was funded by the Volkswagen (VW) Diesel Emissions Environmental Mitigation Trust (VW Indian Tribe Trust). Efforts were put forth by the CRIT Environmental Protection Office (EPO) to become a beneficiary of the VW Indian Tribe Trust in order to secure funding.
Funds allocated to CRIT are under strict guidelines towards the reduction of Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions on the Reservation which involves replacing old polluting diesel vehicles, with new low- emission diesel vehicles. A new 2021 low-emission diesel Thomas School Bus and a new 2021 low-
emission Ford F-600 Dump Truck have been procured to replace similar older models, resulting in a significant reduction of NOx emissions on the Reservation annually.
