Chuck Hoskin Jr. was elected to serve as the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, the country’s largest tribal government with more than 380,000 tribal citizens, in 2019. We asked him to discuss the far-reaching business interests and economic impact of the Cherokee Nation.
Q: What are the areas of business development your tribe is focusing on for the future?
A: Cherokee Nation continues to thrive and evolve, the same as we have done for hundreds of years. Our businesses, which include Cherokee Nation Entertainment, an entertainment and hospitality powerhouse, and Cherokee Federal, a leader in federal contracting solutions, along with our community development, cultural preservation and economic impact services, continue to grow the Cherokee Nation’s legacy, as well as further develop our economy. Many people may not realize that Cherokee Nation Businesses has grown to operate companies in all 50 states, two U.S. territories and more than 20 countries. Cherokee Federal, Cherokee Nation Businesses’ government contracting arm, focuses on diversifying our business footprint and growing our economy through its global workforce and advancements in multiple fields outside of our gaming operations.
